Today, General Electric Vernova was listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

The company and its CEO Scott Strazik are responsible for a third of the world’s energy, and they could actually change the world if they wanted. Instead, Vernova has been slinging around some serious greenwash, trying to convince us they’re all about clean energy while secretly cozying up to dirty gas.

Let’s use our power to demand real change from Vernova and its new CEO!

Dear Mr. Strazik:

This week you became the CEO of a company responsible for a third of the world’s electricity. You could change the world and make sure it’s liveable. Don’t use this power to peddle new gas power the world can’t afford.

Your company has made enormous wind power, electricity grid and renewable technology strides. This is technology that the world needs right now and we urge you to focus on this side of your business and promote it in emerging Asia. This will ensure GE Vernova’s green reputation with environmentally-focused investors and the public.

I understand GE is involved in up to 25GW of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to power projects in Vietnam and Bangladesh, despite the drastic consequences that these projects could have on the local environment, communities and our global climate. At the same time, GE Vernova wants to position itself as a clean energy leader pushing the transition away from fossil fuels. 
I urge you to draw a line under your gas power business and commit not to build or sponsor any new LNG to power projects.
