Over 17,000 community members, including Traditional Owners, scientists, and healthcare professionals have called on APA not to light the fuse on the Beetaloo carbon bomb. Will UniSuper do the same?
APA Group is Australia’s largest gas pipeline operator. The company is planning to construct several pipelines to support extensive fracking in the Beetaloo Basin by Empire Energy and Tamboran Resources.
Until recently, UniSuper was APA’s biggest shareholder, owning nearly 10% of the company. UniSuper recently sold roughly half of its stake in APA. The share price dropped by 6% [1][2]. Now is the time to continue the pressure and send a clear message to APA via UniSuper that it should not enable fracking.
Can you ask UniSuper to use its remaining 5% in APA to urge the company not to enable fracking in the Northern Territory?
At APA’s annual general meeting on Thursday, shareholders, doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals raised their concerns regarding APA’s involvement in enabling fracking. Thanks to the donations of hundreds of people, this was amplified outside the venue with a billboard.
17,000 people signed an open letter calling on APA not to enable dangerous gas fracking in the Northern Territory. The letter was handed directly to APA CEO Adam Watson.
We have a critical moment to keep the pressure on UniSuper and APA and ensure that UniSuper is public that APA should not build the gas pipeline for the Beetaloo basin.
