A report tabled in Parliament today contains recommendations that would stifle free speech and reduce environmental organisations’ ability to hold governments and other decision-makers accountable for their actions.
Last year, former Prime Minister Tony Abbott set up the inquiry, and despite it actually finding that environmental organisations are doing a great job, has made several recommendations that would directly attack not only environment groups’ ability to advocate for our environment, but the idea of peaceful civil disobedience.
