Last week the Chief Investment Officer of Hostplus told a superannuation conference that divestment from sectors like tobacco or fossil fuels is pointless.
“Divesting your coal shares, for example, achieves nothing,” said Sam Sicilia, the person with ultimate responsibility for where your retirement savings get invested.
If you want your retirement savings kept out of companies and projects that worsen climate change, tell your fund what you think of Sicilia’s remarks. Tell Hostplus if they won’t divest, you will.
