Who We Are

Market Forces believes that the banks, superannuation funds and governments that have custody of our money should use it to protect not damage our environment.

Our work exposes the institutions that are financing environmentally destructive projects and help Australians hold these institutions accountable. We work with the community to prevent investment in projects that would harm the environment and drive global warming.

How We Work

Market Forces is proud to be an affiliate project of Friends of the Earth Australia and a member of the BankTrack international network, connecting us with passionate campaigners, environmental issue experts and advocates of environmentally sustainable behaviour from the finance sector.

Our Vision

Our vision is a future where institutions invest with a high degree of respect for the environment, utilising our money to deliver solutions to major environmental issues, and where the community holds to account the custodians of their money to ensure it is used to benefit the environment.

Julien Vincent

Executive Director
Lead Campaigner

Julien has beenĀ an environmental campaigner and activist for over a decade. He was Climate and Energy Campaigner with Greenpeace Australia Pacific and Greenpeace International from 2006-2012, leaving in order to found Market Forces.


Dan Gocher

Analyst

Dan holds a Bachelor of Commerce and has worked in various financial institutions for over 15 years – investment banking, asset management and insurance. He is primarily focused on divestment within the superannuation and insurance industries.


Jack Bertolus

Research Coordinator

Jack graduated with Bachelors of Commerce and Science and throughout his studies became interested in global warming and its economics. His competency and experience in research led him to join Market Forces in early 2015, researching bank renewables lending. Among other things, he keeps updated with bank lending and superannuation holdings in fossil fuels.


Pablo Brait

Campaigner

Pablo has volunteered and worked on climate, fossil fuel and renewable energy campaigns since 2007. His main focus is helping people work together to build the power they need to win.


Will van de Pol

Content Coordinator

Will started at Market Forces in early 2015 and looks after our website content, and also writes and edits copy for our reports and other published materials.

Communications Advisor

James is managing director of Outsight Communications and uses his extensive media and communications knowledge and experience to ensure all of our work at Market Forces makes the impact it deserves.
